Testing

Please read this important message from Principal McGowan regarding SBA and WCAS testing.  PCMS testing will take place Monday, 4/29 through Tuesday, 5/7.

General Announcement

The Amazing PCMS PTSA Breakfast Crew treated PCMS Staff to an oatmeal and yogurt bar on Wednesday morning.  We enjoyed decorating our plates with toppings galore, fresh fruit, baked goods - including quiche - and fresh brewed coffee.  We always look forward to this time -- delicious food, beautiful tablescapes, and the opportunity to gather together in community.  We appreciate you, PTSA!  Thank you! 

General Announcement

Thank you to the parent group who provided PCMS Staff an Eid Lunch to celebrate the close of Ramadan.  PCMS Staff was treated to a wonderful spread that included Chai, Lentil Soup, Cholay Chaat, Butter Chicken, Chicken Yakhni Pulao, Goulash with meat, and Sheer Khurma.  It was a delicious feast!  In addition, information about Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr was provided so staff could learn more about these traditions.  Thank you so much for this generous gift and cultural exchange!  We felt all the love and care put into the preparation and we enjoyed every bite!  Thank you!

Japanese, Norwegian, Egyptian, Indian … what’s YOUR family heritage? 

A little creativity, a heart to share your cultural pride, and lots of fun are all it takes to join this great team of volunteers for the PCMS Culture Night on Wednesday, May 15th at 6pm (PCMS Commons)! 

Team up with neighbors or friends to host your own unique cultural booth/display. Share traditions and customs, food, dance, displays, and/or interactive activities/crafts that celebrate the heritage, history, and culture of your family.  We will be hosting a fashion show to highlight amazing cultural dress and a food truck will be on site too!

Testing

All students in ISD will take the Smarter Balanced tests in Math and English Language Arts (ELA).  The Math and ELA tests will be administered during an extended Lynx Life session, May 2-7.  Students in Grade 8 will also take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS).  All 8th graders will take the WCAS test in their Science classes April 29th or 30th.  We appreciate all students being here on time and at school during the testing times.  Thank you in advance. Please "Read More" for details, including the testing schedule and for the opportunity to take an optional practice test.

On April 16, the Bond Advisory Committee had its seventh meeting, and spent time discussing three possible scenarios as a starting point for a potential bond package in November. District administrators also gathered committee members’ feedback about what projects they think should be included in or excluded from the possible bond package.

On April 182024, the Instructional Materials Committee recommended the following curriculum materials to the ISD School Board for approval at the May 9, 2024 board meeting: 6th Grade FLASH Curriculum Updates and Middle School Math Curriculum (envision Mathematics Common Core). Materials will be on public display at the ISD administration building lobby from April 19-April 26.

As one of the options for middle school students to personalize math learning, "Pathway D" provides an acceleration option for students who are ready to skip sixth grade math, seventh grade math, and most of eighth grade math, beginning middle school in the course referred to as "CC 8/Algebra 1." Students must demonstrate mastery of eighth grade math skills on a district-administered assessment.

The Issaquah School District’s Food Service department strives to ensure the safest possible environment for all students. Some students in our district have a variety of life-threatening food allergies. We offer tools to help students and parents review ingredients in our menu items.

The Cultural and Family Partnerships Team invites new families in the ISD, especially ones new to the U.S. school system, to “Family Connections Question and Answer Sessions” on Wednesday, April 24. A morning and an evening session will be offered. Each session is an opportunity to meet the Family Partnership staff and learn to navigate our schools.
