Message from the Principal - 3/6/25
Hello Team PCMS!
What an amazing weekend. I hope you all were able to enjoy it.
Last Thursday it was exciting to see teachers from across the district come to PCMS to further their learning around “Ignite”. These teachers observed classes at PCMS and observed UDL strategies being used across our classrooms. Our very own, Ms. Kwok and Ms. Laramore, have been leading the way for us at PCMS and modeling what it looks like to integrate UDL strategies into their classes this year. Here is a link to some more information about UDL strategies: https://udlguidelines.cast.org/
A big thank you to our music department, Mr. Dungey (Band), Ms. Lucas (Choir) and Mr. Smith (Orchestra) for their participation and success last weekend at the Solo & Ensemble Festival held at CMMS. Thank you to our students who were part of that event for their efforts. PCMS is certainly proud of all of you for your hard work and dedication!
Monday afternoon, I had the pleasure of visiting Ms. Weider and her 5th period Math 1 students. Students were engaged and working together, specifically, they were comparing ratios to solve various problems.
On Tuesday, I visited one of Ms. Kwok’s 8th grade Language Arts classes. Students began with period with journal entry, focusing on writing fluency as the learning target. Her students then worked on a reading response exercise focusing on evidence and response to classroom discussion. Thank you for having me in!
I ended the day on Tuesday by watching a bit of both our Boys Basketball team and Girls Soccer team take on BLMS. Our student athletes and their achievements are incredible!
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to join other district leaders in the “Enrollment Design Team” to discuss how better to serve our community. This was the first of three or four meetings, and I enjoyed the rich conversation around what we can do to continue to provide the best experiences possible for both our students and families. It was inspiring to hear some of the great work going on district wide.
Take good care,
Jeff McGowan
