Band and Orchestra Earn Top Festival Recognition

Trophies on table

Last week, PCMS’s band and orchestra students had the incredible opportunity to perform at Music In The Parks at Silverwood. This nationally recognized music festival brings together school ensembles across the United States and Canada. It was a chance to showcase their musical talents and represent our school on a national stage—and they did so with flying colors.

Music In The Parks is designed to be a safe, fun, and educational end-of-the-year experience for school bands, orchestras, and choirs. Students perform for experienced adjudicators who offer thoughtful feedback and suggestions for improvement. The festival allows ensembles to grow musically beyond spring concerts, boosting motivation and encouraging students to return to music the following year.

Our PCMS musicians took this challenge to heart. After months of hard work and preparation, the band and orchestra delivered outstanding performances, and the results spoke volumes. PCMS earned first place in all four categories and proudly took home trophies for Best Overall Band and Best Overall Orchestra.

Beyond the scores and awards, the day was also about celebrating the joy of music.  After the performances, students had a chance to unwind and celebrate their success with a visit to the amusement park, a well-deserved reward, and a memory they won’t soon forget. We're grateful for the parent volunteers who helped make this all happen.

We’re incredibly proud of our music students and their directors for their dedication and passion. This experience was more than a performance; it was a celebration of growth, teamwork, and the power of music. Bravo, Cody Smith, Orchestra Director, Phillip Dungey, Band Director, and all our talented student musicians.
